The Three Changes to Help Mould Performance Indication

The Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) has launched a consultation on proposed revisions to the Annual Return on the Charter (ARC) indicators, which social landlords use to report their performance against the Scottish Social Housing Charter standards, including damp and mould.

Among the suggested changes are three new indicators specifically focused on damp and mould. These include the average time taken to resolve cases, the percentage of cases that were reopened, and the number of unresolved cases at the end of the year.

The SHR also proposes to gather data on landlords’ compliance with electrical safety inspections and smoke alarm installations

The SHR also proposes to gather data on landlords’ compliance with electrical safety inspections and smoke alarm installations. Additionally, it plans to reintroduce an indicator tracking properties vacant for over six months to provide a sector-wide overview of empty homes.

Michael Cameron, SHR’s chief executive, highlighted that the proposals are shaped by discussions with stakeholders, including tenants

Michael Cameron, SHR’s chief executive, highlighted that the proposals are shaped by discussions with stakeholders, including tenants, to ensure that the indicators align with their priorities. He encouraged feedback from tenants, landlords, representative bodies, and other interested parties before the consultation closes on November 8, 2024.

“Our proposals reflect our discussions with various stakeholders, including the tenants we work with. It is important that the indicators we collect reflect what tenants consider to be important priorities for them.

“We would now invite feedback on these proposals from tenants, landlords, representative bodies, and anyone with an interest in social housing by 8 November 2024

SHR is also seeking opinions on the relevance of current ARC indicators and the potential removal of a few existing ones.
