Affordable Homes Scheme Complete in New Milton
New Forest District Council have completed their latest affordable housing development in New Milton, Southwest Hampshire.
The new scheme, consisting of 10 houses and 6 apartments, has been built at Moore Close – forming part of the council’s affordable housing development strategy.
The new homes produce 75-80% lower carbon emissions
The homes meet the government’s proposed Future Homes Standard and produce 75-80% lower carbon emissions compared to current levels.
To help to cut carbon emissions and to enhance energy efficiency – the properties have numerous eco features.
How are the homes environmentally friendly?
- Air source heat pumps for heating
- Solar PV panels
- Triple glazing
- Increased insulation
- Electric vehicle charging points
As well as the sustainable side, some of the homes are also fully accessible for wheelchair users, whilst others are adaptable for those who may experience limited mobility in the future.
Cllr Steve Davies, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Homelessness, said:
I am absolutely delighted to see the beautiful homes at Moore Close finished and so many already occupied. This is our second scheme built to the proposed Future Homes Standard which shows what the future looks like today, and how meeting that standard can make running the homes even more affordable.
Moore Close is just one of New Forest District Council’s affordable housing schemes. They are on a mission to deliver new high-quality, affordable council housing across the New Forest.
Others include:
- Advertiser and Times, New Milton: A development of 23 homes for rent
- Knightwood Chase, Station Road, Ashford: 42 homes for rent and shared-ownership from 2026″
- Hythe Hospital, scheme of 22 flats and houses for rent
- Totton, a new development of 20 flats for rent
The New Milton affordable housing development marks completion of the 370th home since the target was adopted in 2018.
