Dean is deeply passionate about the retrofit industry, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to excellence in all his endeavours. He is dedicated to gaining a comprehensive understanding of every aspect of the industry, particularly those that influence its direction and present new challenges and opportunities. This understanding, along with his commitment to sharing insights, is a cornerstone of his professional approach.
Dean firmly believes in the power of sharing knowledge for mutual benefit and collective growth, engaging regularly with his network to discuss industry trends and insights. He recognises that success in this industry cannot be achieved in isolation; it requires the open exchange of ideas, expertise, and perspectives to elevate compliance standards and best practices across the board.
For Dean, business development transcends mere transactions or project and customer acquisitions; it is about fostering an environment where businesses can thrive. He places significant emphasis on collaboration, recognising that successful project delivery hinges on the active involvement of all stakeholders. As a key partner in supporting specification, design, installation, and tenant engagement, Dean ensures that the full scope of SWIP's technical support service (TSS) is available and actively encourages its utilisation.
He actively supports the SWIP network of contractors, introducing them to SHDF schemes and Tier 1 contractors, even in the absence of immediate demand for IWI or RIR. Dean's dedication to nurturing long-term relationships ensures that SWIP’s network is well-positioned for future opportunities as these projects evolve.
Moreover, Dean has consistently worked closely with new entrants to the industry, facilitating introductions to funding sources, regulatory and compliance services, industry bodies, and other essential resources for success in the retrofit space. His commitment to professional development is evident in his organisation of bi-weekly training courses for installers and industry professionals. To date, Dean has conducted over 28 online sessions, each lasting three hours, with an average attendance of 140 participants, focusing on IWI and RIRI topics.
In all his endeavours, Dean remains dedicated to the success of both SWIP and its network, valuing loyalty and fostering strong, enduring relationships that contribute to the long-term growth and sustainability of the retrofit industry. Dean holds a diploma in domestic energy assessment. Similarly to other Technical Support staff, Dean completes regular training within SWIP and keeps up-to-date with industry updates such as BEIS Guidance and PAS to ensure installers are given correct advice and guidance.
As part of our Technical Support team, he is SAP, DEA & Retrofit Assessor trained. Additionally, like the team members, he is trained on U-values understanding building elements like walls, roofs, floors, windows and doors and the thermal value of the materials.
Applying these skills and training allows Dean to make informed decisions on material selection and design for energy & efficiency.
